Howdy my beautiful humans! 🤠 Happy Wednesday - Happy Hump Day! Get after it 🐫😉
Honestly, not much to report on my end tonight. I’ve just been adjusting to my new work schedule (read: too much driving, a lot of staring at my laptop, sipping coffee — yes, I’ve been drinking coffee because my new 6am wake-up time calls for it and the office doesn’t offer free matcha 🙃, but we do have Sonic ice). Nothing groundbreaking.
But sometimes life is like that: quiet, still, routine, a little bit uneventful, and full of learning to re-adjust and be patient in the process. And you know what? That’s okay too. (Me writing this as a “Note to Self”).
Fun fact! Today’s quote was actually picked by one of my best friends. I gave her two options and this is the one she chose, and she nailed it because the only thing I might love more than a fresh start is a quote about plants, flowers, trees, nature. If you’ve been reading my quotes for a while, you already know that. Nature metaphors just get me.
“A seed neither fears light nor darkness, but uses both to grow.” – Matshona Dhliwayo ✨
Sound familiar?
This is what this little blog of mine is all about: finding the balance of life. Finding the balance in this beautiful, joyous, but often dark, messy, confusing life. The highs, the lows, and the weird, in-between moments that don’t make much sense until you’re way past them. It’s about learning to hold both - joy and pain, light and dark, clarity and chaos - and realizing that all of it belongs.
Growth doesn’t only happen in the sunshine. It happens in the dirt. In the dark. In the moments that feel still and boring and not-at-all Instagram-worthy. And honestly? That feels really relevant right now, especially in seasons like the one I’m in, where nothing flashy is going on, and I’m just focused on adjusting to the new. Well, except my office outfits - those are flashy and Instagram-worthy 💁🏼♀️
And if you know anything about a seed, you know seeds don’t resist the process. They don’t panic when the light disappears. They trust that both the darkness and the light are necessary for their becoming. And maybe, just maybe, we should start trusting that too.
Because growth isn’t always loud. It’s not always big or noticeable or life-altering in the moment. Sometimes it’s just you showing up. Adjusting. Breathing. Trying again. Resting. Choosing not to quit even when you don’t have some magical spark pushing you forward.
And here’s what really gets me about this quote: the seed doesn’t know when it’s going to sprout.
It just trusts the process. It stays in the dark, doing its thing in silence, soaking in the nutrients, getting stronger, building roots. It doesn’t rush. It doesn’t panic. It just… becomes.
And then…BAM. One day, it pushes through the dirt. It breaks the surface. It sprouts. And guess what? It finally meets the light. But here’s the thing: it doesn’t just need the light - it is the light.
All that quiet growth? It was never wasted. It was never “just maintenance.” It was preparation for becoming something more. Something vibrant. Something seen.
That’s the season I’m in right now. I’ve had some really beautiful things unfold this year already, and now I’m adjusting. Shifting. Settling into the new while staying open to the “what’s next.” I’m not waiting for something to happen - I’m in the thick of it. And I can feel more change and growth on the horizon.
So if you’re feeling that too, like you’re on the edge of something, like you’re in that quiet moment before the sprout breaks through, sit with that. Celebrate that. You’re growing, even if you can’t see the bloom just yet.
And if you’re not on the edge of that something yet, that’s okay too.
You haven’t missed your moment, you’ve just been planted. Sit with the darkness. Embrace the stillness. Let it hold you. Because this season, the one that feels heavy or unclear or slow, is necessary for your becoming. It’s part of your next chapter. It’s part of your bloom.
If you’re feelin’ it, here are a few journal prompts to sit with this week 🌿
🪴 What season of life am I in right now - light, dark, or somewhere in between? And how does it feel to name it?
🪴 What has the “darkness” taught me lately? Are there lessons I’m learning that I wouldn’t have found in the light?
🪴 What does it mean to me to live in my light? What habits, people, or spaces make me feel most like myself?
🪴 What small act of growth can I honor today - even if no one else sees it?
No matter where you’re planted right now, whether you’re deep in the soil or finally reaching for the sun, just know this: you’re not behind. You’re not late. You’re right on time.
The darkness isn’t working against you, it’s working with you. It’s shaping you, strengthening you, preparing you. And when the light finds you? You’ll be ready to rise. To stretch. To bloom.
Because just like the seed, you were made to use both the dark and the light to grow.
You’re becoming. And I can’t wait to see the beauty that unfolds. 🌱🤍
Trust your journey. Rest your souls, little saplings. Always leave people better than you found them, and have a replenishing day and a happy Snoop Dogg Easter weekend ahead! 👽🫶🏻🧿
