Happy Wednesday friends! My next quote won’t be until after Christmas, so Merry Christmas if I don’t talk to you on the 25th. And happiest of holidays if you don’t celebrate Christmas! I hope everyone is taking some much needed time off and enjoying the holidays… even if for some of us they are chaotic 😅 Let’s get into the quote, shall we?
“So, what if, instead of thinking about solving your whole life, you just think about adding additional good things. One at a time. Just let your pile of good things grow.” - Rainbow Rowell ✨
Wait so she is telling me that I can’t solve my whole life in a weekend by deep cleaning my entire loft and a bubble bath? 🫣 Sometimes it be like that though, am I right?! Okay but seriously, life can often feel overwhelming when we focus on solving all our problems at once. The sheer magnitude of challenges we face can be paralyzing, leaving us feeling stuck and defeated. However, what if we shifted our perspective? What if, instead of trying to fix everything in one go, we embraced the idea of adding small, positive elements to our lives, one at a time? The idea of adding one good thing at a time encourages us to cultivate a mindset of incremental happiness, allowing our pile of good things to grow steadily over time.
This approach allows us to appreciate the progress made, no matter how small, and foster a sense of fulfillment in our daily lives. As we embrace the habit of accumulating good things, we cultivate an abundance mindset. We become attuned to the countless positive impacts and encounters that now surround us – the sunrise painting the sky with hues of gold, the embrace of a loved one, a rainbow, or simply just waking up to another day. With each addition to our pile of good things, we find solace amidst challenges and resilience in the face of adversity.
When we focus on adding one good thing at a time, we create a foundation for lasting positive change. Imagine your life as a garden (you know I love my garden examples/quotes 😉🌸), with each positive element representing a beautiful flower. Instead of trying to plant an entire garden overnight, start by planting one seed. As it sprouts and grows, you'll witness the beauty of incremental progress. This approach not only makes the journey more manageable but also allows you to savor the process of growth.
Remember, life isn't a problem to be solved in its entirety. Rather, it's an exquisite (and complicated) puzzle comprised of countless beautiful pieces waiting to be added. Approach it with an open heart, a grateful spirit, and a determination to let your pile of good things grow, one at a time.
Trust your journey. Rest your soul. Always leave people better than you found them and have an extraordinary day and a terrific weekend! 👽🫶🏻🧿🎄
