Hello my beautiful humans! How are we doing? Is anyone else sick, getting over being sick? Are you perfectly healthy? Because ya girl is sick with a cold, but at least it’s not that nasty ass flu so I’ll take it as a silver lining. Also, it is quite literally freezing here in Dallas - it’s currently 30 degrees as I write this! I think that’s actually illegal. Anywho, let’s jump into the quote:

“Detach me from any dead roots and plant me in energy that breathes life into my intentions, unbind me from expired versions of myself and allow me to hold hands with growth. May I recognize what compromises my authenticity so I never fall out of alignment with my truth.” - Billy Chapata

Whew, did anyone else feel that one in their chest? Because same (or maybe that’s just my cold 🤧) And what better time to let this quote inspire us than right now, at the start of a new year?

Dead roots don’t nourish growth; they just hold us in place. And I’m guessing if you’re here reading this, you’re not looking to stay stuck – you’re looking to grow, thrive, and align with your truest, most authentic self. (Cue the dramatic music and Oprah voice: “YOU get growth, and YOU get growth!”)

So, here’s the thing. We’ve all got “expired versions” of ourselves that we’re holding onto. Maybe it’s a habit, a mindset, a relationship, or even just the pressure to always be “on.” Whatever it is, it’s worth asking: Is this helping me grow, or is this just taking up space? Because if it’s the latter, it might be time to lovingly let it go.

January is like the ultimate reset button. It’s a time to plant the seeds for the type of life you want to live. Think of it as a garden, and you’re the gardener. Are you planting the seeds that align with your intentions, or are you letting weeds creep in? It’s okay if you’re still figuring it out. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Redwood trees take years to grow – and they’re some of the strongest and tallest trees out there. (You get a gold star if you recognized where this came from! ⭐️) If you are totally confused, that’s okay, it’s from a previous quote - you can read it here 🌲

This is your time. Your time to leave behind the things that don’t resonate with you anymore. Your time to unbind yourself from expectations and step into your truth. And let’s be real: Living a life that’s so performative is exhausting. Can we collectively agree to stop doing that? Let’s slow down, take a breath, and remember who we are when no one’s watching. That’s the version of you that deserves to thrive.

So as we head into this year, I’ve got a challenge for you: Take inventory. What are the dead roots in your life? And what seeds can you plant today that will help you grow tomorrow? Maybe it’s saying “no” to things that drain your energy or saying “yes” to something that scares you (in a good way). Whatever it is, trust yourself. You’ve got this. Set the tone now.

Here’s to growth, alignment, kindness, and a year that feels like home. Let’s make it a good one, my beautiful humans. 🌿

Trust your journey. Rest your soul. Always leave people better than you found them, and have a warm day and a healthy weekend ahead! 👽🫶🏻🧿
