Happy Wednesday! I hope you had a relaxing (or maybe not), long weekend. We're wrapping up one month and kicking off another - we love a new beginning! Also, can you believe we're already halfway through 2024? How are we feeling about it?! 🫶🏻
As we stand on the brink of this transition, it's a great time to pause and think about our personal journeys. I came across this quote on Sunday and knew it was going to be the quote of the week, so let’s get to it!
"Rather than spending more of your time trying to work through your conceptual self, move out of your head and touch your life. Do just one thing differently than you did before. Care for yourself in the quietest, most intimate ways. Your idea of yourself will reform as you give yourself solid, undeniable, consistent proof that you are different than you once believed yourself to be." - Brianna Wiest ✨
Isn't it amazing how much time we spend lost in our own heads? We get so wrapped up in our thoughts, constantly analyzing and overthinking who we are and who we think we should be. But life isn't happening in those endless loops of thought. It's happening right now, all around us. This quote is a reminder to step away from that mental chatter and engage with the world directly.
Imagine if, instead of getting stuck in our heads, we made a conscious effort to be present in our lives. To really feel the ground beneath our feet, to notice the colors of the sky, to truly listen to the sounds around us, to live in a moment, fully, without worrying about what might happen six months from now. It's about shifting our focus from what we're thinking to what we're actually doing. And change doesn’t have to be a massive overhaul. It can start with something small, like trying a new route to work, picking up a hobby you've always been curious about, walking for 20 minutes everyday, setting boundaries, or even just tweaking your morning routine (I’m working on this one 😅).
These small, intentional actions can create ripples of change. When we step out of our comfort zones, even in tiny ways, we open ourselves up to new experiences and perspectives. And those little shifts can make a big difference over time.
Taking care of ourselves plays a crucial role in this transformation. But self-care isn't only about spa days or vacations, although those help too 😉. It's also about the small, intimate acts of kindness we show ourselves. It could be as simple as taking a few minutes to breathe deeply, lighting a candle, practicing self-compassion, enjoying a quiet cup of tea, journaling, practicing gratitude, reading, or listening to a favorite song. These moments of self-care help us reconnect with our inner selves and remind us that we are deserving of our own love and attention.
What's truly powerful about this approach is that it provides us with consistent, undeniable proof that we are changing. Our self-perception is often tied to past beliefs and experiences. To reshape this perception, we need to see evidence of change. And that evidence comes not from thinking about change but from living it. Every small action we take toward caring for ourselves and doing things differently adds up. Over time, these actions reshape our narrative about who we are.
So, as we move into a new month, let's embrace this chance to make small, meaningful changes. Let's step out of our heads and into our lives, caring for ourselves in the most personal and intimate ways. Remember, your idea of yourself will reform as you give yourself solid, undeniable, consistent proof that you are different than you once believed yourself to be.
Trust your journey. Rest your soul. Always leave people better than you found them and have a splendid day and a dazzling weekend ahead! 👽🫶🏻🧿
