Happy Wednesday, happy hump day, and HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! 🌈 I'm starting this Pride month off strong with a very well known quote from the queen of all queens, RuPaul:
"If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?" - RuPaul✨
Self-love is a dynamic and ever-evolving journey with its own set of highs and lows. It’s important to recognize that self-love isn’t a constant state of bliss or an end goal to be achieved; rather, it's a continuous process of growth, self-discovery, and acceptance. Some days, you might feel like you’re radiating confidence and self-acceptance, while other days, you might struggle with self-doubt and criticism. This ebb and flow is a natural part of being human. Embracing this evolution means being gentle with yourself during the lows and celebrating the highs. Each phase teaches you something valuable about who you are, ultimately deepening your understanding and appreciation of yourself. Remember, self-love is about progress, not perfection, and every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory worth celebrating.
When you love yourself, you also set a standard for how you want to be treated. Self-love bleeds into the relationships you have with others. You’re more likely to establish healthy boundaries, communicate openly, and show genuine empathy towards others. Self-love empowers you to give and receive love in its purest form because you’re not seeking validation from others; instead, you’re sharing love from a place of abundance. It empowers us to create and maintain healthy boundaries, communicate effectively, and show genuine empathy.
One of my favorite parts about establishing self-love is that it has a ripple effect. When you practice self-love, you inspire those around you to do the same. Your confidence and kindness can uplift others, creating a positive environment where love and acceptance thrive. Your confidence and joy radiate outward and this has the potential to encourage others to embark on their own self-love journey. Self-love is contagious in the best ways possible.
Think of self-love as the roots of a strong, beautiful tree. Without solid roots, the tree can't grow tall and resilient. Similarly, without self-love, we lack the foundation needed to thrive in all areas of our lives. Self-love is the bedrock upon which we build our dreams, our resilience, and our happiness. It enables us to pursue our passions with confidence, live life for ourselves, overcome challenges with grace, and maintain a healthy balance in our lives.
For example, when you love yourself, you’re more likely to set and achieve personal goals, as you believe in your worth and capabilities. It also fosters a positive mindset, helping you navigate through life's ups and downs with a sense of inner peace and stability. In your career, self-love can translate into asserting your value, seeking opportunities that align with your passions, finding & using your voice, and bouncing back from setbacks with renewed determination. In your personal growth, it encourages continuous learning and self-improvement, as you recognize that you deserve to invest in yourself. And in relationships, while self-love lays a strong foundation for connection, it also ensures that you maintain your individuality and personal joy. Ultimately, self-love is about cultivating a strong, resilient foundation that supports every facet of your life, allowing you to flourish and live authentically.
Loving yourself isn’t a destination; it’s a journey, an ongoing adventure filled with twists, turns, and plenty of pit stops. It’s important to understand that self-love doesn’t mean you have to adore every single aspect of yourself 24/7. It's about embracing your authentic self, the good, bad, and the messy, with compassion and grace. Self-love means recognizing your worth, accepting your flaws, and celebrating your unique fabulousness.
I want us to commit to loving ourselves fiercely and fully, recognizing that self-love is the cornerstone of all our relationships. You are deserving of love and respect, not just from others, but from the most important person in your life – you! Can I get an amen? 🌟
Life’s journey - it unfolds for you as you are ready for it (this is another RuPaul quote 👑). So, trust that journey of yours. Rest your soul. Always leave people better than you found them and have a lovely day and an opulent weekend ahead!
Now, sashay away 💅🏼👽🫶🏻🧿
