You may also be thinking about the quote “You are who you surround yourself with”, same idea. If you are choosing to surround yourself with negative, unmotivated, unhappy people your mindset with shift to be negative, unmotivated, and ultimately you will be unhappy. If you choose to surround yourself with positive, hardworking, happy individuals, your mindset with shift. And I know this seems like an obvious concept, but yet individuals still continue to surround themselves with individuals who constantly gossip, talk shit, and don’t support your goals. You walk away from that conversation, that dinner, that time spent together feeling exhausted. It’s because it’s completely draining your energy.
Okay now think about a time you went to a dinner or a get together and you had a conversation that was uplifting, you talked about something that you felt so deep in your soul, or they told you to go after what you want, or maybe, it was just a conversation that was simply about life. I bet you walked away from the conversation feeling energized, inspired, and exhilarated.
Another example, think of a time when you wanted to quit something like drinking - you tell your circle and they didn’t understand. They pressured you, gave you a hard time and it makes you want to cave. OR MAYBE they supported you, didn’t question you and you succeeded.
THAT is the power of choosing your circle. THAT is the power of choosing who you surround yourself with. Choose individuals who push you to be your better self, your best self. Surround yourself with people who CHEER FOR YOU when you succeed. Choose a circle of people who leave you better than they found you.
