World Mental Health Day - Resources

In honor of World Mental Health Day I wanted to provide different resources in case you are struggling, need to talk to someone, want to donate, or just want to know what is out there. I also want to remind you of three very important things that I mean from the bottom of my heart.

1. It is okay to not be okay.

2. You are NOT alone.

Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 to connect with a volunteer Crisis Counselor. I volunteered as a counselor here for a year and it changed my life talking to people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, all around the world. The counselors here go through extensive training and work all hours of the day and night. This is a 24/7 text hotline, it’s confidential and FREE.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): Call the NAMI Helpline at 800-950-6264 OR text "HelpLine" to 62640. NAMI is committed to advancing efforts to reimagine crisis response in our country. We are calling for a standard of care in every community that provides a continuum of crisis services that end the revolving door of ER visits, arrests, incarceration and homelessness. We believe that every person in crisis, and their families, should receive a humane response that treats them with dignity and connects them to appropriate and timely care.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Helpline: 24/7 free and confidential treatment referral and information about mental and substance use disorders, prevention, and recovery. Call 1-800-662-HELP.

The Trevor Project: We provide free information & support to LGBTQ+ young people 24/7, all year round. Live chat, text, or call.

Trans Lifeline Hotline: A peer support service run by trans people located all over the US and Canada, for trans and questioning callers.You can call Trans Lifeline Hotline at 877-565-8860.

Q Chat Space: A bully-free online community of LGBTQ+ teens that can chat with other LGBTQ+ teens and vetted/trained staff from LGBTQ+ community centers around the country. The community is managed by CenterLink.

Veterans Crisis Line: 24/7, free, confidential crisis support for Veterans and their loved ones. You can call, text, or live chat.

Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN): The nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE & they offer a live chat option) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

DomesticShelters.org has a simple search function to help you locate options near where you live.

Ride Sharing Sexual Assault Safety: Resources, tips, and statistics on sexual assault that has happened in an Uber or Lyft.

Disaster Distress Helpline: 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. Call or text 1-800-985-5990.

Financial Abuse: What it is, warning signs, tips on how to rebuild, and resources.
