Happy Wednesday friends <3 I hope you are having the spookiest October. Let’s just dive right into the quote today.
“It wasn’t that you weren’t enough, it’s your energy… it asks others to rise up, and not everyone is willing to go where they grow.” - butterflies rising ✨
I used to think I was weird, I used to dim my own light to make others feel more comfortable, I used to hold back because it might rub someone the wrong way. But here’s what I’ve learned: I am weird, and it is what makes me unique, I should never have to dim my light or hold back to make someone else feel comfortable. If it makes them uncomfortable, that’s on them, not me [us]. I also no longer dim my light because it shows others that they, too, can shine their light bright. When others also shine their light it never dims mine, but proves our light can shine together, brighter than ever.
I no longer hold back because when I do, I’m doing myself a disservice. And not in a I say everything that is on my mind type of way, not in the “I’m brutally honest” type of way, but in the if I have an opinion, a thought, a solution, a call to action, an experience, a story, a confession, an expression of self, I should share this type of way.
The individuals who can’t handle what you bring to the table, who are intimidated by who you are and all that you have to offer are afraid of being wrong, uncomfortable, of growing. Because we all know we grow when we are uncomfortable. And one of my other all time favorite quotes is, “If you’re the smartest in the room, you are in the wrong room”. All of us have something to offer to each other, to this world, to the conversation. It’s where diversity of thought comes in and it’s always where I learn the most. We all have different experiences in this life. Different takes on similar situations. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, listen when you need to, and always be willing to grow.
Trust your journey. Rest your soul. Always leave people better than you found them and have a stupendous day and a memorable weekend!👽🫶🏻🧿
